Govt. Degree College Pouni, Reasi (J&K), a co-educational institution, affiliated to University of Jammu, was established in 2019 by Higher Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, under the patronage of Jenab Talat Parvez Rohella, former Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department. The College comes under the Panchayat Khera Lehar, located in Pouni Tehsil of District Reasi. The college is about 06 Kms. away from the main Pouni market and 15 kms from Bhambla.  At present, it is housed in the premises of JK Tourism Development Guesthouse Building, Domail, Pouni. The holy Pilgrimage of Shiv Khori is just  27km away from the  college.  The  college  aims  to  enrich  a  vibrant  value-based  learning environment so as to transform it into a centre of excellence. It imparts knowledge in all spheres of life so that students may think beyond unthinkable and see beyond unseen. Principal GDC Reasi, was assigned the charge of Nodal Officer/Principal of the college from the beginning till the creation of Post of Principal in the college.

Dr. S.P.Saraswat, Dr. Prem Singh and Dr. Chander Shekhar remained as Nodal Officers of the institution till 15th of April, 2020. However, Dr. Rajni Bhagat was the first full-fledged Principal after the creation of post of Principal. The College was initiated with an encouraging strength of 55 students, with majority of female students in the first academic session 2019-2020. The College is presently running Bachelors of Arts Programme (B.A) with 11 subjects. Special emphasis is not only laid on curricular but Co-curricular, extra curricular and skill development activities under the able guidance of  present Principal, Dr. Udhey Bhanu .
